Help to save lives in the Mediterranean Sea! SOS MEDITERRANEE is a European humanitarian organisation for sea rescue in the Central Mediterranean. It follows the principle that we are all obliged to rescue people in distress at sea. This is not only an imperative of humanity, but also the applicable maritime law. Since February 2016, SOS MEDITERRANEE has been able to rescue over 31,000 people (initially with the rescue ship Aquarius, currently with Ocean Viking). The Ocean Viking is not the ship of SOS MEDITERRANEE, but of all those who uphold the values of humanity and want to take action against dying in the Mediterranean. SOS MEDITERRANEE is a European, maritime-humanitarian organisation for the rescue of life in the Mediterranean. It was founded by European citizens who chartered a rescue vessel in order to save people in distress in the Central Mediterranean – the in the world’s most deadly migration route.
