A spellbinding musical exploration, Mayahuel by Sávila delves into the rich tapestry of Oaxacan
traditions, blending cumbia, dream-pop, and Afro-Mexican rhythms. The trio—guitarist Fabiola
Reyna, vocalist Brisa Gonzalez, and percussionist Papi Fimbres—crafted this album as a reflection
of their immersive experiences in Oaxaca prior to the pandemic. Incorporating pre-Hispanic
percussion and field recordings, the six tracks serve as a homage to ancestral sounds, reimagined
for contemporary audiences.
