Peppe Giordano - Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva

Giuseppe lives in Breitsch, Bern.
He inherited an olive grove from his grandfather in the village of Monteforte,
in the Italian province of Salerno.
The special thing about it is that the olive and fig trees in the Cilento National Park
in rocky soils at 800 m above sea level and are cultivated entirely
without the use of synthetic products.
Peppe and his helpers from Switzerland go to the village every year at the end of October,
harvest and press the olives into extra virgin oil.
From there, the canisters are transported to Bern, where Peppe bottles the oil as needed.
That's why a bottle of olive oil is labelled "3014 Bern".

Giuseppe wohnt im Breitsch, Bern.
Er hat von seinem Grossvater einen Olivenhain im Dorf Monteforte,
in der italienischen Provinz Salerno, geerbt.
Das Besondere ist, dass die Oliven- und Feigenbäume im Nationalpark Cilento
in felsigen Böden auf 800 m ü. M. gedeihen und gänzlich
ohne synthetische Mittel bewirtschaftet werden.
Peppe und seine Helfer*innen aus der Schweiz fahren jeweils Ende Oktober ins Dorf,
ernten und pressen die Oliven zu einem "extra vergine" Öl.
Von dort gelangen die Kanister nach Bern, wo Peppe nach Bedarf abfüllt.
So kommt es, dass auf einer Flasche Olivenöl "3014 Bern" steht.
