(EN) ENGA® is a start-up based in Biel, Switzerland. The company develops solutions for a better use of the natural resources at our disposal. For this purpose, they implement circular processes in which the raw materials of the products can be returned to the cycle. The further development and application of a local closed ecosystem is the foundation of ENGA®.

In 2019, around 300 million tons of plastic waste were generated worldwide. In Switzerland, this corresponds to an annual amount of one million tons, which is about 125 kg per person. Of this, about 8% is recycled.

In order to address this problem, ENGA® uses waste as a primary resource for its products and implements a decentralized recycling system. With their process, a new material made from 100% recycled plastic is realised, which is used in long life, high quality and repairable products. This way, ENGA® achieves huge energy savings and reduces the environmental footprint of its products compared to the use of primary plastics.

To go a step further in the optimization of the environmental impact of ENGA®, they develop solutions and products according to the circular and regenerative economy method. ENGA® not only use recycled materials for their products, but additionally develop and design them to last longer, are 100% reparable and dismountable. Furthermore, ENGA® focus on simple and functional products that are designed to consume as few resources as possible.

(DE) ENGA® ist ein Start-up-Unternehmen mit Sitz in Biel, Schweiz. Das Unternehmen entwickelt Lösungen für eine bessere Nutzung der natürlichen Ressourcen, die uns zur Verfügung stehen. Dazu setzen sie zirkuläre Prozesse ein, bei denen die Rohstoffe der Produkte in den Kreislauf zurückgeführt werden können. Die Weiterentwicklung und Anwendung eines lokalen geschlossenen Ökosystems ist die Grundlage von ENGA®.

Im Jahr 2019 fielen weltweit rund 300 Millionen Tonnen Kunststoffabfälle an. In der Schweiz entspricht dies einer jährlichen Menge von einer Million Tonnen, das sind etwa 125 kg pro Person. Davon werden nur etwa 8% recycelt.

Um dieses Problem zu lösen, nutzt ENGA® Abfälle als primäre Ressource für seine Produkte und setzt ein dezentrales Recyclingsystem ein. Mit ihrem Verfahren wird ein neues Material aus 100% recyceltem Kunststoff hergestellt, das in langlebigen, hochwertigen und reparierbaren Produkten verwendet wird. Auf diese Weise erzielt ENGA® enorme Energieeinsparungen und reduziert den ökologischen Fußabdruck seiner Produkte im Vergleich zur Verwendung von Primärkunststoffen.

Um bei der Optimierung der Umweltauswirkungen von ENGA® noch einen Schritt weiter zu gehen, entwickelt das Unternehmen Lösungen und Produkte nach der Methode der Kreislauf- und Regenerativwirtschaft. ENGA® verwendet nicht nur recycelte Materialien für seine Produkte, sondern entwickelt und konstruiert sie auch so, dass sie länger halten, zu 100% reparierbar und demontierbar sind. Außerdem konzentriert sich ENGA® auf einfache und funktionale Produkte, die so konzipiert sind, dass sie so wenig Ressourcen wie möglich verbrauchen.
